Courses Taken:
WLC 300: WLC 300: WLC Major Proseminar
JAPN 404: Advanced Japanese for Presentational Communication
WLC 400: WLC Major Capstone
MLO Narrative:
4.1: In order to create effective products in our classrooms we had to take several classes that gave us the tool that we needed. WLC300, WLC 400 and JAPN 404 have given us the resources that we need in order to complete our projects. Some programs that we have constantly use for our course work are Microsoft work, and Microsoft power point, Google Drive and it’s various applications. Some recent programs that we have been using include Weebly, Google forms and Prezi.
Through the time we spent in class we have learned various tricks that allow us to create efficient presentations, scripts, and layouts that are required. Through every project that was given to us we always have peer reviews and attended professor office hours in order to have our documents revised. Professor Sekine always gave us valuable suggestions that made it easier for us to present our information.
4.2: Along with putting together documents we were introduces to various research tools that allowed us to find academic articles that we could refer to some of these tools are California State University of Monterey Bay Library Data base, Zotero, and Google scholar. Learning how to effectively use these tools made it quick and efficient to find information that we needed. By using these effectively I was able to gather together interesting information on topics such as the Japanese Mind, the Foreign Education System of Japan.
4.3: Not only was it important to know what websites to use when researching information but also knowing how to look for key words or phrases that accurately described specific content that we needed. For example; when I first began researching background information for my capstone project I was unable to find accurate information, As I took these courses our professors and the staff members of the CSUMB Library gave us hints to how to look for information, something that was very important was that we were advised to be specific in what we were looking for but also be flexible with the information that we found.
With out these courses I believe that I would not be able to complete the majority of my projects while studying at California State University of Monterey Bay.
