Cristian Reyes Japanese graduation portfolio

ようこそ(welcome)

Welcome, my name is Cristian Reyes and my major is Japanese language and culture; through my personal digital portfolio for the Japanese Language and culture major I will present my experiences through the World Language and culture program at California State University Monterey Bay.

Statement of Purpose:

Ever since I was a child I had been fascinated by Asian Culture and beliefs. I use to indulge in watching cartoons that had originated from Asian countries, later on I found out that these types of cartoons were called Anime deriving from Japan. This led me into pursuing an interest in the Japanese culture.

Through my high school years I had began my foreign language education through studying french for two semesters, of which were enjoyable yet they did not satisfy my cultural curiosity. My last semester in High school I was able to take an extra elective class in which I decided to enroll in Japanese 101 ( beginning level) which really sparked an interest in learning more about the culture.

Once I entered University I realized that I wanted a career that would lead me into exploring other cultures. I believe that through Japanese language and its culture I believe that I will build a strong foundation to where I want to go in life.

Once I graduate I will continue to expand my knowledge of Japanese Language and Culture and as well learn other languages that interest me, while I engage in a career as a teacher of world languages.
